Kingsmen Remote Project
Project type
Remote Product Development
Date
October 2024-November2024
Location
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
The objective of this project was to design a remote for a fictional client from a property of our choice. I chose Gary "Eggsy" Unwin from the Kingsmen franchise, a spy for the modern age with a fashionable flair. I designed a remote that assisted Eggsy and other Kingsmen agents in ordering gadgets and supplies on their missions, simplifying the otherwise complex and burdensome process that is their existing solution.
In observance of best practices regarding visceral, behavioral, and reflective design, my concept appeals to these factors by evoking the figure of a suit jacket, with collar buttons that select the object of choice, and a switch on the tie to confirm each selection and order.
This design also appeals to the aesthetic requirements of a spy gadget by forgoing labeling for the inputs and featuring discreet haptic outputs that are only noticeable by the user. This allows the device to be seen, without betraying its true purpose and blowing the cover of a potential agent.
In form, it appears similar to a vintage cigarette case or a travel-sized sewing kit, two objects that a Kingsmen agent would be able to carry on their person without suspicion.
This design was made with the intention of injection molding, following appropriate guidelines and design methodologies.
